Seasons 'no murder jamjar' AU PSL
[He wants to go home.
School sucks. It sucks!!! Lalli hasn't been in school since the second grade, why does he need to go to school? He can read, sort of! He can do enough math to get by! Languages...it's fine, there's a translation effect at this magical school! And everything else? Art, history, science? He doesn't need any of it to be a scout. None of this is helping him. It's useless to him.
Equally useless is the fact that he has an obnoxious roommate who stays in their shared room all the time and makes it impossible for Lalli to even think. So, he's out of there. All he takes with him is his backpack of school things (which are not at all school things) and the clothes on his back (the dumb school uniform plus his less dumb oversized sweater) as he wanders around campus looking for a quiet spot to sit and depression nap his evening away.
Unfortunately, there aren't really any quiet spots to be found. The library is full of studying students, the various nooks and crannies of the campus have different study groups going, and Lalli doesn't dare go near the sororities and fraternities. So instead he ends up on the second floor of some building he doesn't go to normally, and that's where he spies what he thinks is an open couch for him to curl up on.
But it's not open. It's just that Lalli can't see its occupant from his approaching angle. And both said occupant and Lalli himself are in for a surprise, because Lalli is totally jumping right over the back of the couch to try and land on the seat sitting. He might end up setting on or immediately next to someone else though.]

[Honestly, what was he expecting? For the guy to leave? He had a right to this couch as much as he did. When Lalli scrambles up to the arch of the couch, though, Mandricardo stammers.]
N-No, hey, look... [And he shifts to lean on the arm, making space.] You can sit with me if you want. You don't need to sit up there.

He does perch on the back of the couch at first, but when Mandricardo makes room for him he'll move to sit down in the open space now. It's much more comfortable this way, yep. And after a couple seconds of sitting there, he'll finally look at Mandricardo again and actually look at him, like he's noticing the man for real this time.]
...who are you?
[Not the most polite way to ask for Mandi's name, but.]

....Um.
[THAT'S A BIG QUESTION TO ASK UP FRONT!!!! Actually. No. Wait. That's not a big question at all. Get it together-!]
[Mandricardo swallows - its hard for him to keep direct eye contact, but he does his best, glancing at him almost sheepishly from the side like the guy might try to attack him if he says something wrong.]
M...Mandricardo. Nice to meet ya, I guess. And....who are you?
