[Lalli has made a couple stops before going to check on people, but Malik is outside and he's actually one of the people Lalli wanted to check on! So when he comes across Malik, he's going to stop to talk to him.]

Is there anything you can't eat?

Meat.

[ he's not in the mood to really fight anyone for once, so this answer comes pretty easily as he's just kind of Existing out here. ]

Okay.

[He will leave the sandwich in one of his pockets then. Malik gets chocolate cookies instead.]

It's hard to remember to eat after field trips. So it's better if other people remind you.

[He'll sit down next to Malik.]

[ and he puked on mandricardo earlier. whoops. so yeah his tummy is sad and empty and he gets right into these cookies. ]

You didn't go on one today, did you?

No, I didn't.

...it was hard, the time I went. And it seems like these ones were even worse than the others.

...I got poisoned on both of mine. Looking at the level of damage... it feels similar. My leg is bad now, but last time I was nearly clawed to death. I don't know. I don't think there's really a 'good' trip.

...I shouldn't have used my vouchers before today. We all know what happens on Thursday, I should have waited.

There's always a lot of vouchers to go around on Thursdays, though.

There are, but it still feels like we have to scramble to get them together.

...Well, I'll give you that. It seems like they should be gathered in advance by now.

...Do your gods punish people?

Depends on what you mean by 'punish'. If you've acted wrongly then they stop answering your prayers and let misfortune befall you.

Is there anything you can do about that? Do they stop listening permanently?

Atone, I suppose. Live by their rules, show remorse for angering them.

...do you think you angered your gods?

I know I did. We're supposed to live our lives according to the order of Ma'at... order and justice... and if you go against the will of the gods, that's going against the balance of the universe.

[ in short terms, because i'm going going to get into a five paragraph essay about morality in ancient egypt. ]

...I don't know if can ever atone for what I did. My gods aren't always forgiving.

...it could be. My cousin did anger one of the gods recently. Maybe I'm burdened with making up for his choices.
