Caiman told me about this within ten minutes of meeting him, that he was a sorcerer killer. It sounds like most of the mages in his world are bastards, though.
A lot of mages in my world are bastards as well so it didn't bother me. Seemed like he was okay with me. Didn't realize I should have been convincing another side of him.
Where I am from, magic users hold a lot of power. Not only arcane. Political power.
And some of them are corrupt, and some of them are cruel to the powerless. I had the sense when Caiman said he killed sorcerers, this was why. Because in his world, they were also powerful, and came to where he lived to hurt helpless people. And Caiman could fight back, so he did.
I've been hurt by powerful, corrupt people too. So it didn't bother me.

Some people in my world don't believe mages actually have powers, but nobody has ever hunted down someone specifically for being a mage.
