[Time to find Denji in the food hall! Food is valid after such a long trial. Lalli is even getting Kissa some before getting some for himself.

He sees Denji there too, and he frowns. Not because he's mad or anything, he just always frowns.]

Oh, hey dude. Getting some grub? I was starved.

Yeah, what was up with them keepin' us there without food or anything! They wanted us to do all that thinking hungry. And everyone's all freaked out.

They're right to be freaked out. Nothing about today was normal.

But...it's not like we're in super normal land here, ya know. I mean, I've been relaxin' and eatin' but knew that something had to happen sometime. [still, he doesn't look particularly happy about what all's gone down in the past 48 hours, and he pushes away a half-finished plate] They knew that, right?

I knew something had to be going on, but I didn't think it involved murder.

[He still doesn't know how to deal with that.]

Honestly, didn't expect it'd be just a cute girl to do it but life's like that sometimes.

Anyway, you said you had a cool animal catalog on your phone?? [leans in, looking for phone]

But he does pull out his phone. He will be holding onto his phone and not letting Denji touch it, but Denji can look.

'Cool animal catalogue' is all Kissa and Frumpkin though, and any ambient animals that might be in the setting. Random butterflies and shit. I'm hoping there's insects on campus so I don't have to retcon this.]

[Denji's attention will be glued to the screen with all the rapt attention of a kid at the zoo, and he scooches right up to where Lalli is

he laughs whenever the cats are in silly poses, and whenever there's an animal or bug he doesn't recognize, he points and taps the screen]

Wait, wait, go back what's this one?? [I hope lalli knows the name of every type of butterfly]

[Some of them he knows the names of, but many are just 'it sure is a bug'. Lalli is at least honest when he doesn't know something.]

There's different types of butterfly? Damn, that's crazy... [as time goes on he gets bolder about reaching out to flip to the next photo unless he gets shooed away]

I've seen some of them, of course. Used to do lots of wood-cuttin' jobs in the forest so there'd be lotsa bugs. No idea what any of 'em are called though.

[He only gets shooed away if he tries to take the phone entirely, Lalli will tolerate him touching it for now.]

They're all just 'butterflies'. People come with different colors too, but they're all still people.

No. Cameras are different where I'm from. I'm trying to find out how many pictures the phone can hold at once.

[Speaking of which, he's going to flip the camera back to 'picture' mode for a moment to try and snap a picture of Denji too. It's on selfie mode so it's a big picture of his face.]

[Denji, like any self-respecting Japanese boy flashes a peace sign, holding it until the phone is lowered]

Collectin' people photos, too?

[When Lalli flips it back to the albums, Denji's picture is moved to join Taichi and Nier's photos.]

Why'd he ask you to do it?

[depending on how perceptive Lalli is, he could notice a slight rise in intensity from Denji's gaze, a kind of sharpness that replaces the easygoing impishness]

[This boy perceives a lot but if he notices the change he's keeping it to himself for now. He's cautious about all the new people too.]

I told him about filling up the camera to see how many pictures it can hold, and that I was thinking about taking pictures of people too. He said I should do it.

[shrugs] Whatever, seems fine I guess. I'm not really the type to take requests without knowin' what someone wants.

Is it somethin' you actually wanna do? Makin' a people album?

[He shrugs his shoulders.]

I don't like people. It's hard communicating with them. But some of them look interesting.

[Words do not adequately describe his feelings on the matter, but on the other hand Lalli really needs a fukken therapist to work through his issues with him.]

Sure as hell got that right. Never had to talk to this many different people for this long.

But yeah, some of them are okay, I guess. [he grins at Lalli]

[I know just enough about Chainsaw Man to be alarmed by Denji kinning with Lalli.

Lalli, however, is not concerned at all and in fact just looks slightly grumpy.]

Some of them never stop talking and the constant buzz is annoying. If they start punching my shoulders I am going to retaliate.
