[ he's the hunkiest teen in his canon it's not his fault. ]
For one of them, yeah. We don't know about the other two - the ones that me, Bradley, Manwol, Alph, Catra, Sakyou, Claude, and Sieghart went on. I'm trying to figure out the relevance of those ones, but they might be tries on genres of stories. Shows. Movies. All that.
What's your world like? If you don't mind telling me a little about it - not the Rash, or the monsters there. Just the world itself. You've talked about magic. And I guess it's a different version of Earth, maybe, since you confirmed you were Finnish?
[But how does he describe it without talking about the horrors that live there.]
...It's quiet. There's not many people left, so there's no wars or big fights or anything. Everyone's energy is spent just making sure the remaining survivors stay fed and protected.
Things like here, with people killing each other and being executed for it, it just doesn't happen back home. Murders happen, probably, but they're really rare. If someone's going to die, it's from natural causes or illness.
[ he'll get into the horrors, after. he just wants to confirm this first - ]
If it was your Earth, then it may have been the Old World. I'm just guessing, based off of that, and the way you navigate things here from what I've seen. [ he's familiar enough with the tech, or the concept of it, and doesn't have issue with some aspects of the campus and things people say. ] There were people everywhere, just living their lives without being considered "survivors."
[The next part is said after a short, uncomfortable pause.]
In my world, if you had been infected I would have had to kill you and guide your soul to the afterlife. Having to do that here would have been...difficult.
[ ... kon thinks about his cousin, and leans forward, hand dropping from his chin. he reaches out, setting his hand atop lalli's head gently, for a moment. ]
I know it's probably difficult to talk about, too. [ lightly ] But thanks for telling me. I'll be on the lookout for anything that stands out like that, alright? And I'll tell you if I learn more about our field trip, now, so you know if it was from your world.
[ small ruffle, and then he draws back, thinking about that - kissa hasn't hissed at him any or been cranky at him, as far as he's noticed? he doesn't talk to caleb much so he can't reference frumpkin. catra probably doesn't count. ]
I think it would be better, too. Bad enough what the monster was made out of - having it capable of spreading a disease like that is... not ideal.
But Kissa'd let us know even in this place, right? It's not like her sniffer's been broken like our magic is.
That's right. All cats can smell it, but Kissa is also trained to warn people in more obvious ways than just reacting to the smell. If there was a troll or an infected here, we would know.
[It's part of why he's accepting that nobody got infected, and that they probably went to a different world anyway.]
What kind of reaction would we be on the lookout for? Obviously attacking, but more subtle signs. Cats can be pretty subtle, sometimes, and I wouldn't want to miss it.
[ see: him learning about lalli's boundaries, also, like he's asking about two different cats ]

... is the rash what ended the Old World?

Date: 2021-07-01 03:02 am (UTC)Mhmm. Immunity is uncommon in my time, but in the Old World it was even rarer. Those who weren't immune caught the rash, and there was no cure.
The people who died before the rash could fully change them, they were the lucky ones.

Date: 2021-07-02 05:09 pm (UTC)...mmm. An itchy rash where you got injured is the first sign. And cats trying to attack you, they can smell the infection.
[He's probably said this before but it feels important to make sure Kon understands.]
It would be better if it's not my world though.
